Surabaya, 3 December 2024 – The Ministry of Trade through the Directorate General of National Export Development held an Export Development Week at the DoubleTree Hotel Surabaya and Pergudangan Sinar Gedangan Sidoarjo to strengthen the competitiveness of Indonesian MSMEs towards the global market. This event included a Dialogue Forum, Business Matching Japan, and Export Consultation by the Surabaya Export Center, which was attended by 60 business actors. The Minister of Trade, Budi Santoso, officially opened this event, whose speech was then continued by the Director General of National Export Development, Mardyana Listyowati. This week the general of the Ministry of Trade, Putu Jayan Danu Putra; Acting Governor of East Java, Adhy Karyono; Head of the East Java Province Industry and Trade Service, Iwan; as well as the President Director of Bank Jatim, Busrul Iman. At the opening of the Export Development Week, a cooperation agreement was also signed between the Directorate General of National Export Development and PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Timur Tbk. (Bank Jatim) to support increasing the capacity of MSMEs. The event continued with the Business Forum "The Role of Export Aggregators in Supporting MSMEs BISA Export" which was attended by resource persons such as the Secretary General of the Association of Indonesian Export Companies (GPEI) Toto Dirgantoro and the Vice President of International Banking of PT Bank Jatim Wahyukusumo Wisnubroto, with the discussion guided by the Head of the East Java Industry and Trade Department's Foreign Trade Division, Erivina Lucky Kristian. The Minister of Trade then released the export of products from four MSMEs assisted by the Surabaya Export Center, namely CV Cherry Blossom Indonesia, PT Cycl Karya Global, PT Daya Matahari Utama, and PT Matra Multikarya Segara, consisting of handicraft products, recycled plastic furniture, frozen cut octopus, and fish fillets, to the United States, Japan, China, and Singapore with a total export value reaching USD 256 thousand or the equivalent IDR 3.9 billion. The success of East Java MSMEs in penetrating the export market is the result of synergy between the Ministry of Trade through the Surabaya Export Center, the regional government, and overseas trade representatives who provide technical assistance and facilitate business cooperation. It is hoped that the Export Development Week can strengthen the competitiveness of MSMEs and help business actors take advantage of opportunities in the global market.
